Mauro Tambone Advanced Practitioner of Dr. Ida Rolf Structural Integration Method
Thanks to a traditional Ballet Education and over 20 years of international dance career, I was fortunate to experience a dance repertoire that ranged from the most traditional Classics of Ballet to the latest contemporary choreographer.
Soon after graduating from a State Ballet Academy, I began searching for scientific methods that could expand my understanding of the principles governing body and movement. The multitude of styles, interpretations and physical challenges required by company repertoires as well as by creations from contemporary artists, led me to a growing interest in the quest of what movement in the Arts is, and how to reach expertise in Dance.
The Discovery of Dr. Ida Rolf work, while I was on a trip to New York City in 1990, made a significant impact on my professional and personal life. Her systemic approach towards integration of biological, physical and psychological aspects of the organism with the law of Gravity echoed in me the kinaesthetic complexity felt in the dance studios.
In 2005, at the end of my dance career, I moved to Boulder (USA) to study the work of Dr. Rolf at the Guild for Structural Integration, with senior teachers Emmet Hutchins, David Davis, and Neal Powers.
Since 2008 I have been living and working in Munich (Germany) where, alongside practicing Structural Integration for anyone interested in their development, I am also a member of a professional Team (Krajak Physical Therapy) dedicated to the prevention of injuries of dancers from the Bavarian State Ballet.
In 2012 I started a close collaboration with the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where Somatic Workshops and Structural Integration principles have been integrated to the Dance training of the Company members, to support their development and insure prevention of injuries.
The growing engagement with the dance community took me also to Frankfurt where, since 2015, I have been regularly practicing Structural Integration Sessions with the Frankfurt Dresden Dance Company.
In 2017 I became a Teaching Faculty member at the Hollins University, USA, (European Summer Course) where I keep teaching Contemporary Body Practice to students attending the MFA dance program.
